- 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix chopped apples and sugar; let stand for 10 minutes.
- Stir in melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the apple mixture and stir until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
Notes
For a healthier version, substitute some sugar with applesauce.
