Description

An elegant and impressive appetizer featuring creamy brie cheese wrapped in flaky puff pastry, topped with sweet fig jam, salty prosciutto, and a drizzle of honey.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie cheese
  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 2 slices prosciutto, torn into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons honey, plus more for serving
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh thyme, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet. Place the brie wheel in the center. Spread the fig jam over the top of the brie, then layer on the prosciutto pieces. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of honey.
  3. Carefully fold the puff pastry up and over the brie, enclosing it completely. Trim any excess pastry and press the seams to seal. Flip the bundle over so the seam side is down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the beaten egg wash. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
  5. Remove from oven and let rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. Drizzle with additional honey and garnish with fresh thyme if desired. Serve with crackers or sliced baguette.
