For the Crust:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add water and mix until a smooth batter forms.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dip each shrimp into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Simmer over low heat for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Toss the crispy shrimp in the honey glaze until evenly coated. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
