For the Crust:
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add water and mix until a smooth batter forms.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dip each shrimp into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Simmer over low heat for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Toss the crispy shrimp in the honey glaze until evenly coated. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
