- For the cream cheese frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, mix the granulated sugar and melted butter until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition, then stir in the red food coloring and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting: In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, beating until creamy.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled brownies and cut into squares.
