Description

These elegant puff pastries feature caramelized pears and creamy brie, perfect for a holiday appetizer or special gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 ounces brie cheese, sliced
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Optional: Honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the sliced pears and brown sugar. Cook for 5-7 minutes until pears are caramelized and softened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 4-inch circles or desired snowflake shapes using a cookie cutter.
  4. Place a slice of brie in the center of each pastry circle, top with caramelized pears, and fold the edges to create a snowflake pattern, pinching to seal.
  5. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and puffed. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  7. Drizzle with honey if desired before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute brie with a plant-based alternative and use vegan puff pastry. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
