For the Crust:
- 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, buttermilk, and vegetable oil. Beat until the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool completely before spreading the strawberry slices and cream between the layers.
