For the Crust:

  • 1 box devil’s food chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup toffee bits
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake according to package directions for two 9-inch round layers. Let cool completely.
  2. Whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form to make the whipped topping.
  3. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thin layer of caramel sauce and a layer of the whipped topping. Sprinkle with toffee bits.
  4. Top with the second cake layer. Frost the top and sides with the remaining whipped topping.
  5. Drizzle the top with the remaining caramel sauce and sprinkle with chocolate chips and the remaining toffee bits. Chill for 1 hour before serving.
