Description

A decadent chocolate cake loaded with layers of chocolate ganache, chocolate chips, and a rich chocolate frosting for an explosive flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • For ganache: 1 cup heavy cream, 8 oz dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For ganache: Heat cream until just boiling, pour over chopped dark chocolate, and stir until smooth.
  8. Assemble cake: Spread ganache between layers and over the top.

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
