Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake layered with fresh strawberries and creamy frosting, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • For frosting: 1 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup strawberry puree

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour evenly into prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For assembly: Place one cake layer on a plate, spread with strawberry puree, add sliced strawberries, and top with the second layer.
  8. Frost the entire cake with prepared frosting and decorate with additional strawberries.

Notes

Ensure strawberries are fresh and ripe for the best flavor. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
