- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Additional powdered sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Allow cookies to cool, then roll in powdered sugar.
Notes
Drain cherries well before chopping to avoid excess moisture.
