For the Crust:

  • For the Cake: 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Topping: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Glaze: 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the 3 cups flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk, eggs, 2 tsp vanilla, and 1/2 cup melted butter. Mix until just combined. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, 2 tbsp flour, and cinnamon until well combined. Drop spoonfuls of this mixture evenly over the cake batter. Use a knife to swirl the topping into the batter.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. While the cake is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, 5 tbsp milk, and 1 tsp vanilla to make the glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake.
