Description

Crispy Funnel Cake Sticks are a fun twist on the classic fair treat, made by frying batter into stick shapes for easy snacking, often dusted with powdered sugar.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Pour the batter into a piping bag or squeeze bottle.
  6. Squeeze the batter into the hot oil in stick shapes, frying for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove the sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure the oil is at the right temperature and don’t overcrowd the fryer. These are best enjoyed fresh!
