- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Pour the batter into a piping bag or squeeze bottle.
- Squeeze the batter into the hot oil in stick shapes, frying for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove the sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, ensure the oil is at the right temperature and don’t overcrowd the fryer. These are best enjoyed fresh!
