Description

Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate truffles perfect for the holiday season. These festive treats are rich and decadent, with a touch of holiday flair.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
  • 1 cup cocoa powder, for coating
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Crushed peppermint candies or sprinkles, for rolling

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat.
  2. Pour the hot cream over the finely chopped semisweet chocolate in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth and melted.
  3. Stir in the softened butter and vanilla extract (and peppermint extract if using) until fully combined.

Notes

Refrigerate the truffle mixture for at least 2 hours or until firm enough to roll. For best results, roll truffles in coatings before they soften. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. These make great holiday gifts!
