- 8 oz penne pasta
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper, then add to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Continue to simmer until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet and mix everything together until well combined.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
This dish is best served fresh, but leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days. For a spicier version, increase the red pepper flakes.
