Description

A rich and indulgent chocolate cake infused with cassis liqueur, perfect for special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cassis liqueur
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • For the frosting: 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1/4 cup cassis liqueur

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the cassis liqueur and boiling water until the batter is well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the frosting: Beat the butter and powdered sugar together, then add cassis liqueur and spread over the cooled cake.
