A simple and flavorful side dish made with rice and French onion flavors, perfect for any meal.

- 2 cups long-grain white rice
- 1 packet (1 oz) French onion soup mix
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consomme
- 1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
- 1 cup water
- Optional: 1 cup sliced mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a 9×13 inch baking dish, combine the rice, French onion soup mix, butter, beef consomme, beef broth, and water. Stir well to combine.
- If using, add the sliced mushrooms and mix them in.
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, remove the foil and stir the rice. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Serve hot.
Notes
This dish pairs well with grilled meats. For a vegetarian version, substitute beef consomme and broth with vegetable alternatives.
