Description

A simple and flavorful side dish made with rice and French onion flavors, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 1 packet (1 oz) French onion soup mix
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consomme
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • Optional: 1 cup sliced mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, combine the rice, French onion soup mix, butter, beef consomme, beef broth, and water. Stir well to combine.
  3. If using, add the sliced mushrooms and mix them in.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  5. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and stir the rice. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork. Serve hot.

Notes

This dish pairs well with grilled meats. For a vegetarian version, substitute beef consomme and broth with vegetable alternatives.
