Description

This easy French Onion Rice is a flavorful side dish made with caramelized onions, rice, and beef broth for a delicious twist on classic rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Stir in rice and garlic powder, cooking for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in beef broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for 20 minutes.
  5. Fluff with a fork and season with salt and pepper before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute beef broth with vegetable broth. Pairs well with steak or chicken.
