For the Crust:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Stir in sugar and cocoa powder until smooth.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Stir in flour and salt until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing into squares.
