Description

Delicious chocolate cookies with a coconut and pecan topping, inspired by the classic German chocolate cake.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. Fold in shredded coconut, chopped pecans, and mini chocolate chips.
  6. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cookies are set.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
