Description

A rich and decadent pound cake infused with the flavors of German chocolate and crunchy pecans.

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a bundt cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Fold in the pecans.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
