Description

A traditional Greek dessert featuring honey and flaky pastry.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 cup honey
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add ice water, mixing until dough forms. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Roll out dough and fit into a pie dish.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together honey, eggs, yogurt, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  5. Pour filling into the crust and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until set.
  6. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use high-quality Greek honey.
