Description

A simple and delicious heart-shaped cake perfect for Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red food coloring (as needed for heart shape)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, and mix until smooth.
  6. Add red food coloring to achieve a pink or red hue, then pour batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Decorate with frosting and heart-shaped sprinkles as desired.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality vanilla extract and ensure all ingredients are at room temperature.
