Description

A decadent chocolate roll cake filled with whipped cream and cherries, inspired by the classic Black Forest dessert.

Ingredients

  • For the cake: 4 large eggs, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the filling: 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 15×10-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale. Sift in cocoa, flour, baking powder, and salt; fold gently.
  3. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 12-15 minutes. Cool slightly then invert onto a towel dusted with powdered sugar.
  4. Roll the cake with the towel and let cool completely. Unroll and spread with whipped cream and cherry filling.
  5. Re-roll the cake without the towel and chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Ensure the cake is rolled while warm to prevent cracking. Garnish with chocolate shavings for extra appeal.
