Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the flour, cheese, herbs, salt, pepper, and olive oil to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and shape into loaves.
- Place the loaves on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a crispier crust, brush the loaves with egg wash before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
