Description

A savory bread infused with fresh herbs and melted cheese, perfect for sandwiches or as a side.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the flour, cheese, herbs, salt, pepper, and olive oil to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into loaves.
  6. Place the loaves on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For a crispier crust, brush the loaves with egg wash before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
