Description

A simple and delicious homemade bread that’s perfect for sandwiches or as a side.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110ยฐF/45ยฐC)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and hollow when tapped. Allow to cool before slicing.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
