Description

This homemade caramel apple jam is a sweet and tangy preserve made with fresh apples, caramelized sugar, and spices, perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups chopped apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 package pectin

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Wash, peel, and chop 4 cups of apples into small pieces.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a large pot, mix the chopped apples, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
  3. Cook the mixture: Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Add 1 package of pectin and continue boiling for 10 minutes or until thickened.
  4. Jar the jam: Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
  5. Store: Allow to cool completely before storing in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

For a smoother jam, blend the mixture before jarring. Always use fresh apples for the best flavor.
