Description

A classic comfort dish featuring seasoned ground meat and vegetables topped with creamy mashed potatoes, baked to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground lamb or beef
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the topping:
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
  3. Add ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  4. Stir in carrots, peas, beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Meanwhile, boil potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
