- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground lamb or beef
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the topping:
- 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
- Add ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Stir in carrots, peas, beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
- Meanwhile, boil potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
