- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- For the filling: 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Scoop about 1 tablespoon of cookie dough, flatten it, add a teaspoon of cream cheese mixture in the center, and wrap the dough around it to form a ball.
- Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until set.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent spreading. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
