Description

A hearty casserole that combines the classic flavors of meatloaf and mac and cheese for a comforting family meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg and milk; stir into the beef mixture.
  5. Press the beef mixture into the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
  6. Layer the cooked macaroni over the beef mixture.
  7. Top with shredded cheese and diced tomatoes.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes or until the meatloaf is cooked through and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a spicier version, add chopped jalapeños to the meat mixture.
