Description

A delightful twist on classic chocolate chip cookies with the addition of maraschino cherries for a burst of flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease baking sheets or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time.
  5. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries.
  7. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Make sure to drain the cherries well to avoid excess moisture in the dough. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
