A fun and whimsical holiday treat featuring a soft sugar cookie base topped with a puddle of white icing and a charming, melting snowman decoration.

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • Assorted decorations: orange sprinkles for noses, mini chocolate chips for eyes, and small candies for buttons

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just lightly golden. Let cool completely on the baking sheet.
  5. For the icing, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and corn syrup until smooth. The icing should be thick but pourable.
  6. Spoon a large puddle of icing onto each cooled cookie. While the icing is still wet, use the assorted candies to create a melted snowman face and buttons in the icing. Let the icing set completely before serving.
