Description

Soft and chewy red velvet cookies with a crinkled top, made with cocoa powder and a touch of red food coloring for that classic flavor and appearance.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the red food coloring and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough, roll them in powdered sugar, and place on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are set and have a crinkled top.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
