For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Assorted colored sugar or sprinkles
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the creamed mixture until just combined.
- Roll the dough into small balls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Press gently to flatten slightly and sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.
