- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 fresh jalapenos, seeded and finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, cheddar cheese, butter, jalapenos, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until a dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into bite-sized shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Place the shapes on the prepared baking sheet and brush with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before serving.
Notes
For a spicier version, leave the seeds in the jalapenos. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
