Description
This easy recipe recreates Sbarro’s famous mama’s meatballs with a simple spaghetti sauce, perfect for family dinners.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cans (28 oz each) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes, basil, and oregano. Bring to a simmer.
- Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 20-25 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve over cooked spaghetti.
Notes
For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
