Description

These heart-shaped danishes feature a creamy cheese filling topped with fresh strawberries, perfect for a special breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Spoon the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each heart pastry.
  5. Top with sliced strawberries and fold the edges of the pastry to create a border, then brush with beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a sweeter version, add more powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
