Ingredients

- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 to 3 tablespoons cold water
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups pecan halves
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water until dough forms. Roll out dough and fit into a 9-inch pie plate.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans into the pie crust.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs. Stir in corn syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, and vanilla. Pour mixture over chocolate chips and pecans.
- Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until set. Cool before serving.
Notes
For a flakier crust, chill the dough before rolling. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
