Description

A rich and decadent pie featuring chocolate and pecans, perfect for holidays or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water until dough forms. Roll out dough and fit into a 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans into the pie crust.
  4. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Stir in corn syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, and vanilla. Pour mixture over chocolate chips and pecans.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until set. Cool before serving.

Notes

For a flakier crust, chill the dough before rolling. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
