Description

A festive dessert combining pie and cake flavors for Thanksgiving, featuring layers of pumpkin pie inside a spiced cake.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  2. Prepare the cake batter according to package instructions and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix pumpkin puree, sugar, and spices to make the pie filling.
  4. Press the pie crust into a pie pan and pour in the pumpkin filling.
  5. Bake the pie for 15 minutes, then remove and let cool slightly.
  6. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased cake pan, place the baked pie on top, and cover with the remaining batter.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cool completely before serving with whipped cream.
