Description

A classic dessert pie featuring apples and toffee.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the crust: 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • For the filling: 6 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or similar)
  • 1 cup toffee bits
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until dough forms.
  3. Roll out dough on a floured surface and line a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. In another bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Stir in toffee bits and pour filling into the pie crust.
  6. Cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut slits for steam.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for the best flavor.
