Description

A classic chopped steak recipe featuring seasoned ground beef patties served with a savory onion gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil for frying
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned.
  4. Remove patties and set aside. In the same skillet, add flour and stir to make a roux.
  5. Gradually add beef broth, stirring until thickened to make gravy.
  6. Return patties to the skillet and simmer in gravy for 10 minutes.

Notes

For a healthier version, use lean ground beef and low-sodium broth.
