Description

A classic sandwich featuring thinly sliced steak, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and peppers on a soft hoagie roll.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • Optional: mushrooms, sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes; remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining oil and cook the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Return the onions and peppers to the skillet and stir to combine with the steak.
  5. Place slices of provolone cheese over the mixture and cover the skillet until the cheese melts, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Divide the mixture evenly among the hoagie rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

Use high-quality ribeye for the best flavor; for a twist, add hot peppers or mushrooms.
