Description

Traditional Southern vanilla pecan pralines made with fresh ingredients for a sweet, nutty treat that’s perfect for holidays or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, heavy cream, butter, and salt.
  2. Stir constantly until the mixture reaches 235°F (soft ball stage) on a candy thermometer.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in pecans and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes thick and cloudy.
  4. Drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper and let cool completely before serving.

Notes

Pralines will set as they cool. If the mixture doesn’t thicken, cook a bit longer next time.
